What is a PeaceCenter?

PeaceCenters began as part of Religious Science International's Peace Committee. The original members were RSI churches and centers.

Today, PeaceCenters are groups of people who have joined together to promote the idea of creating peace on earth. Member PeaceCenters embrace our Statement on Peace, and create ways in their local community to bring peace more fully into form.

You can now make a secure donation to the PeaceCenters to enable us further the cause of Peace. [Here]

What are other PeaceCenters doing?

  • Numerous churches report erecting Peace Poles with some garnering effective media attention. Some of these have been erected in community parks. Some PeaceCenters have involved the youth of the church in their peace pole projects.

  • The Fremont Church of Religious Science has dedicated a PeaceCenter room in honor of Dr. Carole Neal where people may go to meditate and be at peace.

  • Two churches reported candle lighting ceremonies using candles lit from the World Peace Flame in Memphis.

  • Individual PeaceCenters have begun to offer courses on how to live peacefully.

  • One church reported a countywide youth peace summit.

  • Most report Sunday peace prayers and songs for peace as a regular part of their Sunday Services, and several are offering mid-week Peace meditations.

Dalai Lama's
Message of Compassion

Sometimes words are overused and they seem to lose their meaning. When I say that message presented by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Wood River High School Stadium in Haley, Idaho on September 11th, was transformational for me, I mean it. I mean it sincerely. [More]

Upcoming Peace Events

International Day of Peace
September 21, 2008

The International Day of Peace was first established in 1981 by a resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session every September. In 2001 the resolution 55/282 was strengthened to fix the date annually on 21 September and for it to be a day of nonviolence and cease-fire. The resolution was adopted unanimously by the Member States of the General Assembly.

This past year in 2007, the Day will be observed at UN Headquarters with the traditional ceremony in which the Secretary-General rings the Peace Bell. Keeping with past tradition, numerous events and observances are planned around the world.

Make a commitment and add your group to be counted.

One Thousand Prayers for Peace

Religious Science Ministers and Practitioners are participating in the realization of peace in the world by writing Spiritual Mind Treatments - also known as affirmative prayers - to be published on the PeaceCenters website. The prayers will also be made available in book form. Imagine being able to gift a friend, coworker, or loved one with one thousand ways to create more peace in the world!

Submit your peace prayer here.
